Job Title:Internship The Ministry of Health (MOH) seeks to train CoCIS (College of Computing & Information Sciences) students and recent graduates to support the implementation of new Information Systems such as MTrac in district hospitals and HC IVs (health facilities) across Uganda. The interns will assist the health facility employees in mastering the use of these systems and sending scheduled information to the MOH.  Interns will work individually or in pairs and will be assigned to a health facility. CoCIS will make an effort to match students to their home districts or regions so that work in local languages will be facilitated.  Skills you attain:  Learn about the implementation of ICT systems on the ground Assist in making Uganda better by improving it’s health care systems Develop your practical knowledge of IT and applications by using SMS, mobile data collection, web and database technology.  The Candidates:  The correct candidates will have to be proficient in the following areas:  Computer, network and information literacy Good communication :- speaking, writing, understanding, explaining. Knowledge of local language of the district/area you are assigned to Data collection and management, database organisation and content management Demonstrable personal initiative and commitment.  Responsibilities:  Provide user support to Ministry of Health ICT systems such as MTrac, DHIS2 and others that are deployed in district hospitals. Help to ensure the reporting of on schedule of the health centre’s mandated operational statistics to the MOH systems. Assist MOH and its agents in deploying MTrac, DHIS2 and other Ministry systems in the health facility Train local facility staff in computer essentials and information literacy and provide technical support for local facility computers and users. Make regular reports of their activities to CoCIS and/or their academic supervisors. Understand the workflow in the local facility, so that by the end of the internship in August they can identify and describe a problem in the facility that can be solved with an ICT application.   A few students may be required to stay at the Ministry of Health Headquarters to assist in liaison with the districts and manage the received data.  All recruited interns will receive training by the MOH in early June in mobile data collection tools and the MOHs information systems and the challenges in the health care system.  N.B These positions are available to Makerere University Students Only who study an IT related courses.
